Not sure if anyone had noticed, President Obama has a thin skin. Seems he also lacks the ability to take ownership of, well, nearly anything. Except, of course, bin Laden is dead. You may not have heard that one. If not, welcome back from your roundtrip to Proxima Centauri.
The fact remains, our President just can’t seem to do what an adult should, act like one. Act like an adult. Yes, I am calling Mr. Obama childish.
Candidate Obama in 2008, while curtly ending a line of questions about the now imprisoned Tony Rezko, said, “Come on guys; I answered like eight questions. We’re running late.” He may well have been running late. More than likely, he was. It’s not the excuse I care about. He just plain whined about it. Unlike Reagan, Obama hadn’t mastered the art of the ‘I can’t hear you’.
When the President is confronted with his imperfections and a failures, he becomes a Krabby Patty.
According to Linda Martinez-Lewi, Ph.D., “Narcissists never play fair. They have learned since early childhood to take advantage of everyone. Many played the role of the perfect child, the genius, prodigy or beauty in the family who was superior and could do no wrong. Parents of budding narcissists don’t correct their children when they misbehave or are cruel to their siblings, playmates or extremely rude to other adults. Early on the narcissist has no sense of limits, including a feeble conscience or none at all.”
I’d like you to note that narcissists don’t get corrected when misbehaving.
In a recent opinion piece written by Kirstin Powers, she stated, “Discussing breaking Washington’s partisan gridlock, the president told TNR,”If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News…for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it”…Alas, the president loves to whine about the media meanies at Fox News. To him, these are not people trying to do their jobs. No, they are out to get him. What other motive could a journalist have in holding a president accountable?” She went on to further note, “In fact, if you are a liberal – as I am – you should be the most offended, as liberalism is founded on the idea of cherishing dissent and an inviolable right to freedom of expression…That more liberals aren’t calling out the White House for this outrageous behavior tells you something about the state of liberalism in America today.”
Obama has been lead to consider himself great. How he got there, it doesn’t matter. I suppose in a psycho-analystical way, it does. Politically, it means nothing. Much like Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, correcting behavior has more to do with what is going on right now.
White House spokesman, Jay Carney, was asked about the recent economic contraction. His version of our economic challenges was to advise, “Our economy is facing a major headwind, and that is Republicans in Congress.”
To recap history; just over two years ago, Republicans had no majority in any congressional house or the executive branch. Two years ago, the Republicans overtook the House of Representatives but Democrats maintained the other two branches. From that time, the President has used executives order to rescind immigration enforcement to appointing folks to the NLRB extra-constitutionally. I want to remind you that he got bin Laden too. Did I mention that?
President Obama has plenty of sway. A little ol’ House of Representatives oughtn’t stop him. Yet, he complains that they do.
Carney further stated, “This is political brinkmanship with one primary victim, and that is American taxpayers and the American middle class,” Referring to the so-called fiscal cliff negotiations. That would be the fiscal cliff brought on by the specter of sequestration spending cuts created by a debt ceiling deal from a year prior (2011). A sequestration deal suggested by the White House. A deal which, when faced with expiration, the President refused to negotiate until the last minute.
That brinksmanship…blame, blame, blame. And a puppy dog-like compliance from the mainstream media.
As much as Conservatives would like to position Obama as incompetent, he is not. The President acts with a decisiveness. He acts with purpose. He has an agenda. That agenda has nary a scintilla of care for the economy or the financial well being of Americans.
It’s not a question of whether or not Obama can handle the economy, he doesn’t care. At all.
It is the pesky economy that’s getting all up in his grill and messing up the ‘transformational’ agenda. He told America that his greatest second term challenge was immigration. Not them, Americans and the economy.
What makes Obama crabby is that people keep asking the hard questions. Like eight of them or something.
As with children, setting limits is important. Having closely known a grammar school teacher, the key to an orderly classroom is to set rules and expectations. The real key is consistent enforcement. Parents would marvel at a teacher whose classroom was orderly with the very kids they cannot control at home. Set expectations, be consistent, do not allow a fight and understand that it is not about being popular.
Republicans? Has this occurred with Obama?
No one has ever said ‘no’ to the President. Republican lawmakers have been terribly worried about poll numbers. Understandable but useless. When you’re tanking in the polls, you’ve got nothing to lose. Why not play a little hardball with the President?
On Martin Luther King’s birthday, Obama’s right hand while speaking at a church, Valerie Jarrett stated,”Teachers, and firefighters, and policemen, whose jobs are now in jeopardy because Congress–well let me be specific–because the Republicans in Congress,” and she later stated, “We all sleep a little better at night knowing Osama Bin Laden and his lieutenants are not plotting a terrorist attack against the United States”
Is there an echo in here?
What’s evident with the President and his hangers on; that nothing is sacred and there are no boundaries. Why on earth would Republicans bother with the gentlemanly rules of engagement that had long been in place in Washington?
Obama clearly understands there are no longer any rules. I do not advocate breaking any actual rules, I’m talking about the public relations and unwritten rules of pubic behavior. President Obama clearly needs to understand that there are consequences to his actions. Exceeding those boundaries has quick and defined action.
Ms. Jarrett went to a church during a national holiday, a day celebrating an inspirational leader, and used that chance to play cutthroat politics.
Polls can be important but only represent what folks desire to be true. Everyone wants world peace but understands that since that ain’t happenin’, we need a bad dog military. The reality is, the public hates a weak horse. Republicans are the weak horse. Republicans are that guy who begs his girlfriend not to break up with him. No one wants to be that dude.
Pointedly, congressional Republicans need to grab a tissue, wipe the cry snot off and start playing ball.
Get under Obama’s skin. It’s his weak point. He is a failure. Call it a failure. Even if his economic failures are by design, say those words. He doesn’t like it. It’s why he doesn’t like Fox. They ask the hard questions. Keep asking.
Key to classrooms and parenting, never placate a tantrum throwing child.
